Melissa Fortes (Cape Verdean Singer)

Melissa Fortes is a Cape Verdean singer based in Rotterdam who has been professionally active since the mid-2000s. She has collaborated with notable artists including Dino D'Santiago, Nelson Freitas, Gil Semedo, Grace Evora, Boy Ge Mendes, Livity, and Gregor Salto. In 2013, she was named Radio 6 Soul & Jazz talent and received a nomination for Radio 6 Soul & Jazz Award in the Best Talent category.
Her debut album Sonho de um Beija-Flor was released in December 2015, blending Cape Verdean and Brazilian influences with jazz and soul elements. The album reflects her artistic approach of combining traditional music with contemporary styles. As of 2021, she was working on new material for future release.
