Flor de Toloache put their own beautiful stamp on Mexican folk with Las Caras Lindas. Exuberant tunes like “Dulces Recuerdos” and “Ruisenor” will delight even the staunchest mariachi purist, but newcomers will be lured in by the group’s rule-breaking style. The ladies play with the rowdy glee of a roadhouse country band on “Long Gone Girl," weave echoes of mournful Latin jazz and sweet American soul into “No Hay Vuelta Atras," and drape every tune with impossibly gorgeous harmonies.
