Barnacle Bill (original hornpipe)

This is the hornpipe tune later made famous as the theme tune to the TV program "Blue Peter". It has no relation to the American traditional drinking song.

If you're here to try and link an entry for the theme to the TV show; there have been (by Wikipedia's count) 12 variations of the theme, usually done to keep the show feeling current with TV production trends. The official "CBBC" YouTube channel posted this video in June 2021 that covers the twelve variations however sadly the dates do not line up with those given on Wikipedia so some cross-referencing between listening to variations on the theme will help you locate the correct arrangement.

Different works have been created because the the arrangements from the early 90s onwards drift considerably far away from the original, enough so that they would constitute their own work entry. Since the tenth variation the theme arrangement is now so different Wikipedia consider the link to this original hornpipe tune to no longer exist, however I have continued to link here to give editors a seminal chance of locating that arrangement.
